Funny Wedding Speeches - How to Build an Effective and Humorous Speech

Humor in a wedding is like walking on a tightrope. The guests of a wedding are usually a very "tough to sell to" bunch because they come in all ages, walks of life, and senses of humor. This is not to say, however, that funny wedding speeches can't deliver a heartfelt yet humorous message to your entire audience. Below are some tips on how to use humor effectively in your wedding speeches.
Using Humor To Compliment Your Central Theme Every wedding speech, whether you're the bride, groom, best man, maid of honor, mother or father of the bride etc., should be formatted around a central message. This can be something like a change in the bride or groom since you first met them, or how your relationship with you new husband or wife has grown over the years and what has influences it.
Your jokes should compliment your message and humor is often best implemented in a "Do you remember?" type format. It's usually a good a idea to form jokes this way because then you can form a personal connection/interaction with your audience.
Respect and Sincerity In Humor Whenever trying to achieve one of those "funny wedding speeches" that leaves a room rolling with laughter, you need to consider the beliefs of those in the room. For example; Let's say you're the best man and in a joke you reveal to the parents of the bride that she and the groom lived together before even being engaged. This is a big no no if her parents didn't already know, and even if something like this isn't a big deal, the wedding reception is not the place to reveal it.
"The Movie Rule" for Wedding Jokes What do I mean? If you were showing a movie to your family you might consider a rated 'R' horror movie a bad choice if children will be watching. By the same token, make your jokes something that all of the guests can appreciate. Remember, laughter is contagious, use this to your advantage.
