The Springbrook National Park is a wonderful natural reserve not too far from the Coast. It features many nature walks and beautiful landscape. I visit there with my family every few months to get away from all the concrete. It's a very peaceful place and has numerous parking areas where there are picnic areas nearby with barbecue areas.
There is also a nature walk which takes you to a great waterfall lookout and another walk witch takes you to the bottom of and under the waterfall.
There is also a Glow Worm cave I believe which is quite tranquil. The kids have a whine each time I mention spending the day there but once we get there they absorb the atmosphere and fresh air and come on board. Just make sure you bring snacks and plenty of water as some walks can be quite exhaustive, especially the waterfall one.
